Reports to: CEO

About Jęuun:

Jęuun is a fast-growing food service business on a mission to provide wholesome, flavourful meals that spotlight the rich culinary heritage of Nigeria and Africa. From customisable plates, hearty buckets and lifestyle-aligned offerings, we exist to make great food effortless and deeply enjoyable. After a year of solid traction and market love, we’re entering a new phase: organising for growth.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven Operations Manager to help us stabilise and scale. This role is not about managing an existing structure—it’s about building one. You’ll work directly with the CEO to design and implement the systems that will power Jęuun’s next stage of growth, from procurement and kitchen management to logistics and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and Systemise Operational Infrastructure

Jęuun is at a foundational stage and needs the right systems to scale. Your role will be to build these systems from scratch or improve what's currently ad hoc, ensuring all core functions are organised, documented, and optimised.

  • Lead the improvement of a menu costing and pricing structure that accounts for ingredient cost fluctuations, margins, and scalable pricing across formats (plates, buckets, Feasts).

  • Create and manage a more robust procurement system—including procurement schedules, approved vendor lists, price tracking, and reorder processes.

  • Set up a more reliable inventory management system (digital or hybrid), including daily/weekly stock checks, variance reporting, and wastage tracking.

  • Map and implement production systems in the kitchen to improve prep efficiency, batch planning, shift allocation, and task handovers.

  • Oversee logistics scheduling, ensuring timely deliveries, optimised routing, and communication between the kitchen and the delivery team.

  • Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for every recurring process—procurement, kitchen prep, order fulfilment, delivery, returns, etc.

Lead Day-to-Day Operations and Ensure Executional Excellence

You’ll manage the flow of daily operations with an eye on detail and quality, ensuring that the customer experience is never compromised.

  • Oversee daily food production and ensure meals are prepared to standard, on time, and in full.

  • Monitor order volume and kitchen output to avoid bottlenecks and missed deadlines.

  • Troubleshoot operational issues quickly—from delayed vendor supplies to missing delivery riders—and put solutions in place to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Ensure hygiene, safety, and quality assurance standards are consistently met in the kitchen and during delivery.

  • Ensure smooth transitions between shifts and teams, minimising downtime and duplication of work.

Build & Mentor a High-Performance Team

You’ll be working with a small but motivated team. Part of your job will be to train, coach, and upskill them, particularly the Operations Assistant and kitchen support team.

  • Provide structure and daily direction to junior team members.

  • Identify capacity gaps and recommend hiring or reallocation of responsibilities.

  • Create training tools or sessions to improve performance in kitchen prep, inventory logging, order dispatch, etc.

  • Create a culture of ownership, performance, and problem-solving across the operations function.

Monitor, Optimise, and Report Performance

Operations must be data-informed. You’ll put in place tools to measure what matters and help the business make smarter decisions.

  • Define key operational KPIs (e.g., order turnaround time, stock variance, food wastage, delivery success rate) and track them weekly.
  • Conduct weekly reviews to assess what’s working and where things are breaking down.
  • Provide the CEO and wider team with monthly operational reports, including insights, risks, and proposed improvements.
  • Lead a continuous improvement loop—test, iterate, optimise.

Manage Operational Costs and Resource Allocation

With margins at the heart of a food business, your role is critical to ensure costs are controlled without compromising quality.

  • Set weekly and monthly procurement budgets based on demand forecasts and menu plans.
  • Identify cost leaks and implement strategies for waste reduction and vendor negotiation.
  • Work with the CEO to manage operational expenses and maintain a healthy cost-to-revenue ratio.
  • Explore automation or tech solutions (where affordable) to improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in operations, preferably in food service, hospitality, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

  • Experience building or significantly improving operational systems in a growing business.

  • Strong organisational skills, with a builder’s mindset and a problem-solver’s spirit.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in tools for operations tracking, inventory management, and reporting.

  • A passion for food and familiarity with Nigerian culinary culture a strong bonus.

Cultural and Strategic Alignment

  • A deep appreciation for Nigerian and African culinary heritage and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

  • Commitment to embodying Jęuun's values and supporting its mission as the ultimate food lifestyle partner.

  • Familiarity with order fulfilment processes and logistics coordination is a plus.

What we offer:

  • Competitive Salary (plus additional benefits after a minimum stay at the company)
  • A supportive and collaborative work environment that values innovation and creativity.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth within a fast-growing company.
  • A chance to contribute to a brand that is redefining the food lifestyle experience in Nigeria and Africa.
